Basic Function and Scope of the Position:

Responsible for preparing and managing U.S indirect taxes of sales & use, property taxes, Canada GST/HST, and state/local controversy issues.  This includes identifying, designing and implementing process improvements for effective tax forecasting, reporting (compliance), and planning.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Manage all aspects of tax compliance matters including state & local indirect taxes, sales and use tax, property tax and Canadian GST and HST
  • Oversee outside providers and a staff to ensure timely, complete and accurate filing of tax returns, extensions and payments
  • Manage tax controversy process for state and local tax audits and notices
  • Provide support in preparation of the monthly tax accounting reconciliations and analysis related to state and sales & use taxes
  • Identify, design and implement process improvements for efficient and effective state & local indirect tax compliance and accounting

In order to be successful in this role, we need someone who has:

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting/Business or related field; CPA preferred
  • 6+ years of related corporate tax experience with a national accounting firm and/or corporate tax department
  • Exceptional accounting, finance and analytical skills
  • Thorough knowledge of state and local tax rules and regulations
  • Experience working with tax software platforms and ERP systems. Familiarity with SAP and indirect tax systems a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results ahead of deadlines
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills and problem-solving capabilities with close attention to details
  • Good technical knowledge of tax law and its application
  • Energetic and flexible team player with the ability to adapt in a fast-growing environment
  • Self-starter and individual contributor with excellent work ethic and a willingness to do what it takes
