Tax role in industry...Vancouver based company is hiring a Tax Manager Compliance. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Manager, Tax Compliance is responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, including Canadian, US and international income tax, GST, VAT and US and international withholding certifications. This position works closely with the Finance department and its various portfolio and asset management teams and with external tax advisors on strategic, complex, time-sensitive issues, often with competing deadlines.
 
Requirements
Duties / Responsibilities:
o Working closely with Finance, the preparation and filing of Canadian, US and international tax compliance both by outside advisors and internally, including income tax, GST, VAT, withholding tax certification, FATCA and common reporting standard compliance
o Works with the Finance team and at the direction of the Vice President, Finance, to ensure that all tax compliance is consistent with tax strategy and its risk management policies
o Working with the Finance team and the relevant portfolio and asset management teams, ensure that all necessary tax compliance related to new acquisitions and existing investments are undertaken in accordance with external legal counsel advice.
o Manage relationships with external advisors and ensures effective and efficient use of those advisors
o Develop processes for ongoing tax compliance, including a tax calendar and document management system. Stay current with Canadian and US tax law, and international tax trends and developments
o Actively adhere to compliance and risk management policies
Qualifications
o A professional accounting or law designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, MTax or International equivalent)
o Minimum of five years working in international taxation with an accounting firm, law firm and/ or industry
o Completion or new completion of the CICA In-Depth Tax course
o A strong technical tax background in International and Canadian Tax
o A strategic thinker and team player who is pro- active and self-motivated
o A demonstrated ability to collaboratively engage staff and external advisors to research and solve complex and challenging problems
o Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills and attention to detail
o The capability to manage multiple and competing priorities to meet tight deadlines
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with the tax team, the asset teams with external advisors
