The Manager, Tax assumes a leadership role within the tax specialty and will interact with all levels of management. Job responsibilities include oversight of the filing of all tax returns and payments, which could include coordination with internal and external preparers, review, and/or preparation of returns, as well as review of tax compliance, tax research, and accounting of tax liabilities. The Manager, Tax should be a proven subject-matter expert that provides critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to research complex issues.

The Manager, Tax uses professional judgment and provides quality customer service in a complex organization. The Tax Manager is also required to work in a matrix environment, willingness to share information, act as a mentor, and take ownership for areas assigned.

Required experience includes 10 years Finance experience with a minimum of 7 years in Tax (specifically Exempt/Non-Profit).

  • Oversees the timely filing of periodic state and local taxes, such as sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, intangible tax, reemployment tax, and related payments
  • Oversees the timely filing of federal and state tax returns, including 990s, 990-Ts, 1120s, F1120s, 1065s, and 5471s to ensure compliance with the tax laws in a collaborative, shared leadership environment and related payments
  • Prepares and/or reviews assigned schedules of tax returns
  • Evaluates new business entities to determine the appropriate tax structure
  • Develops innovative solutions to help BayCare meet the organizations objectives
  • Analyzes business information and developments for the impact on US tax provisions
  • Determines appropriate accounting treatment of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and restructurings as it relates to tax
  • Leads in the tax accounting treatment of operating structures for new operations and existing operating structures
  • Oversees IRS and State audits as they arise
  • Prepares and/or reviews FIN 48 for external audit annually
  • Oversees payroll accounting
  • Reviews assigned account reconciliations to ensure appropriate tax liabilities are recorded
  • Prepares presentations related to assigned areas of responsibility for Board & Committees, as requested
  • Maintains departmental policies and procedures
  • Develops and implements policies
