The Senior Tax Specialist works in a team environment where he/she draws on and develops their tax expertise and partners with groups across the company to fully comply with income tax reporting requirements while legally minimizing the company’s tax liability. 

The position requires strong technical knowledge of domestic federal taxation (1120’s, 1065’s, etc.), international (5471’s, foreign tax credit, etc.) and/or state income tax or a combination of these three areas will be considered

Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing U.S. reporting requirements of Phillips 66 and subsidiaries.  This includes corporate and / or partnership income tax returns as well as various other reporting requirements.
  • Accumulating, analyzing, and processing financial accounting data in order to prepare tax returns and estimated tax payments, forecasts and financial accounting estimates of tax in a manner which is cost effective and legally minimizes the company’s tax liability.
  • Interpreting and applying federal, state, and international revenue codes, regulations, rulings and procedures, case law, announcements, and notices to company transactions.
  • Assisting in developing responses to inquiries by various income taxing authorities.
  • Working with tax accounting to ensure income taxes are properly reported.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (MST and/or CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ corporate income tax experience 
    (Big4 or combination with large corporation preferred)
  • 7 or more years of accounting and and/or tax experience
  • Will consider a candidate with less relevant experience for a Tax Specialist role
  • Federal corporate income tax experience required (state income and international a plus)
  • Knowledge of CFC’s helpful
  • Proficiency with SAP and CorpTax preferred
  • Must have collaborative work style with strong communication skills
