Role Overview

This role will report to the Executive Director, Tax, and is responsible for leading all aspects of Quest’s tax accounting, reporting, and compliance operations. This includes the quarterly and year-end ASC 740 tax accounting and all aspects of tax compliance. While Round Rock is the first choice for the location for this role, other locations will be considered for the right candidate, including other locations within Texas. Director or Senior Management leveling will be determined based on the qualifications of the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and review of accurate and timely consolidated US GAAP quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and financial statement footnotes and disclosures, including preparation and/or review of effective tax rate, tax balance sheet accounts, uncertain tax positions and footnote disclosures.
  • Oversee tax related close processes such as provision entries, tax related stock based compensation entries and quarterly provision memos.
  • Lead quarterly review and annual financial audit procedures for domestic taxes.
  • Manage and maintain interim and annual tax controls as needed in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards.
  • Oversee completion of tax returns and compliance for federal, state income/franchise tax, property tax, and state and local sales and use taxes.
  • Design and implement effective procedures to manage domestic tax compliance requirements, such as establishing a tax return calendar, coordinating estimated payments and extensions, registrations, and other return processes.
  • Contribute to the setup and maintenance of the Tax Department function, including implementation of cost effective tax provision and tax return software solutions and processes.
  • Manage annual companywide R&D credit and Section 199 studies.
  • Evaluate and implement domestic tax planning ideas.
  • Lead day-to-day management of domestic tax audits, including state and federal income tax audits, as they arise.
  • Work closely with other functions within finance, including financial reporting, corporate accounting and financial, planning and analysis.
  • Manage, build and foster relationships with inside business resources, especially senior management, tax consultants and external auditors.
  • Research, interpret and apply federal, state and local tax laws and legislative changes.
  • Manage outsource service providers for exceptional delivery and efficiency.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent from a college or university in Accounting
  • CPA
  • Ideally 8+ years of experience in a medium to large corporate tax environment and/or equivalent public accounting role with extensive experience in tax accounting
  • Demonstrated SEC reporting and tax accounting expertise
  • Extensive experience with tax compliance and provision software such as OneSource and tax research software such as CCH, BNA, RIA

Preferences

  • Big 4 public accounting experience
  • MS in tax or equivalent
  • Software industry experience
  • Experience with financial accounting for income taxes for carve outs
  • ERP systems for reporting and analysis (e.g. Oracle, HFM)
  • Sales and use tax experience
