We are looking for an experienced tax professional to manage our tax footprint in the US. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of the evolution of our tax function. Reporting to the head of Enterprise Tax, you will lead and manage tax strategies and activities to support enterprise-wide priorities and initiatives. You will play a key internal consultant role, working closely with business partners and the senior tax team to provide strong tax support and execution to ensure that enterprise tax risk and compliance obligations are managed appropriately. Specifically, you will 

  • Lead a team to manage the day-to-day tax operations for your jurisdiction, acting as a liaison between the tax department and internal services groups
  • Manage jurisdiction specific tax strategy, planning and execution for enterprise-wide priorities and significant Department-specific initiatives and developments, working directly with Department leadership
  • Manage advisors and the outsourcing of tax return preparation to ensure that CPPIB and its subsidiaries meet their global tax compliance obligations within acceptable risk tolerances and on a timely basis
  • Proactively and effectively manage tax audits
  • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and ensure appropriate integration into tax filings and positions
  • Identify process opportunities and drive change management in a tax capacity for a growing global organization
  • Establish and maintain a tax oversight and reporting framework to enable meaningful analysis and forecasting, ensuring that we understand and manage the tax risks and issues that CPPIB may face
  • Maintain and contribute to the development of the tax control framework, including managing permanent establishment risk
  • Drive enterprise-wide tax education, positioning yourself and the team as a valued and strategic business resource

Position Requirements: 
Consider applying if you are/have:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant
  • Significant, progressive experience in tax; experience in US or international tax would be an asset
  • People manager that can motivate and lead a group to excellence, attracting and retaining a high-performing team, with a minimum of 5 years of tax experience
