Responsible for the direction and coordination of all activities within the income tax group, including preparation of corporate income tax returns, all aspects of FAS 109, resolution of income tax audits, and reduction of the company's overall income tax 

Detailed Description 

Responsible for the direction and coordination of all activities within the income tax group, including preparation of corporate income tax returns, all aspects of FAS 109, resolution of income tax audits, and reduction of the company's overall income tax burden through research and planning. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of all corporate income tax returns.
  • Conducts tax research and planning to control or reduce corporate income tax liabilities.
  • Supervises the income tax group and conducts performance appraisals, ensuring that teammates assist in achieving departmental objectives.
  • Coordinates and reviews all state and local income tax audits. Negotiates with tax auditors.
  • Coordinates and reviews federal income tax audit in whole or in part, as requested. Negotiates with tax auditors.
  • Maintains ongoing state income tax study, including nexus issues, intercompany issues, and apportionment issues.
  • Researches proposed compensation arrangements for tax compliance, including deferred compensation, compensation caps, and benefits issues.
  • Conducts domestic and international tax-related research on proposed income tax positions and acquisitions.
  • Directs calculation of consolidated effective income tax rate, income tax reserve analysis, and other internal reporting requirements on a quarterly basis.
  • Evaluates tax assessments and stratagizes whether to protest or appeal to reduce company liabilities.
  • Directs preparation of franchise taxes and franchise tax budgets.
  • Coordinates or assists with the selection and utilization of the income tax compliance software, as requested.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job Requirements 

QUALIFICATIONS A. EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING: Broad knowledge of a discipline such as chemical, distribution, electrical, or mechanical engineering, behavioral science, finance or business administration. Equal to a complete 4 year college or university education. CPA or law degree required.

B. WORK EXPERIENCE 

At least five years up to and including seven years. 

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Ability to meet stringent deadlines and perform under pressure. Ability to manage change effectively. 
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work with all levels of teammates. Ability to work with limited supervision.
