Enterprise Finance
The Enterprise Finance organization is made-up of a group of enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo’s financial management, corporate development, corporate properties and corporate security, and corporate strategy. We do that by providing strategic advice, subject matter expertise, innovative solutions, and effective tools to Wells Fargo businesses around the world.

Controllers Division
The Controllers Division delivers subject matter expertise, counsel, governance, and oversight for all Wells Fargo controllership activities to the business units and staff groups. The division includes the following functional areas: Accounting Business Unit Support, Accounting Operations, Accounting Policy, Enterprise Controls & Oversight, Enterprise Financial Reporting, Supply Chain Management, and Corporate Tax.

The Position
The Deputy Corporate Tax Director will be leading a management team responsible for all enterprise-wide corporation income tax matters of Wells Fargo & Company and its subsidiaries for the jurisdictions where the Company conducts business. The primary responsibilities of the team include the income tax aspects of financial reporting, fulfilling all income tax compliance requirements on a global basis, as well as management of all income tax audits and supporting income tax operations.

The Deputy Corporate Tax Director is a key member of the Controllers Organization Leadership, team reporting to the Corporate Controller. The position will be responsible for helping lead an organization that enables a financial and income tax reporting culture of ownership and accountability; drives standardized procedures; simplifies, standardizes and consolidates processes and technology to deliver timely, complete and accurate reporting; reduces cost by reducing manual activities and processes including manual data entry, submissions, adjustments, interventions and significant use of Excel.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing, reviewing and confirming compliance with all U.S. federal, state, and non-U.S. corporate income tax requirements
  • Evaluating current requirements, as well as assessing the compliance impacts of future changes to U.S. federal, state, and non-U.S. income tax law, regulations, and rulings
  • Evaluating and reviewing the financial statement accounting for income taxes to ensure completeness and accuracy in accordance with applicable financial accounting standards
  • Provide thought leadership in support of all global income tax audit activities conducted by the Tax Authorities, including dispute resolution
  • Providing thought leadership on existing and/or emerging income tax reporting and compliance risks while maintaining a well-controlled reporting and compliance environment
  • Strategic income tax risk management for all aspects of the work performed by the income tax function
  • Maintaining and expanding current knowledge of emerging U.S. domestic and international income tax issues
  • Providing thought leadership on all aspects of global income tax planning, including issues requiring research and written memoranda
  • Providing review and approval of consolidated and separate entity calculations of estimated income tax payments
  • Providing thought leadership with respect to use of tools and technologies, both current and emerging
  • Providing thought leadership with respect to training and development of corporate tax team members
  • Serving in a leadership role on complex enterprise-wide or cross-functional matters, including developing relationships with key Controllers, Finance, and line of business partners

This position will be based in Minneapolis.

Required Qualifications


  • 12+ years of corporate tax experience
  • 10+ years of management experience



Desired Qualifications


  • A Master's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
  • Ability to identify business needs and deliver solutions in close partnership with line of business and technology
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles: public accounting in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of audit and regulatory compliance
  • An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Experience in tax operations, tax risk mitigation, or tax compliance in a large financial institution

  • High degree of initiative and strong ability to meet key responsibilities with limited direction and oversight
