Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Tax, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department in alignment with broader business objectives. Responsible for selection, supervision and development of staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.



Specific Job Summary

The Director, Domestic Tax is responsible for preparation and review of workpapers for the quarterly and annual financial statement reporting of tax provision for worldwide subsidiaries under the principals of US GAAP, including ASC 740, FIN 18, and FIN 48. Assist the VP, Global Tax with all aspects of tax provision including development, coaching and management of staff as well as reviewing material workpapers and schedules prepared by the staff.



Working Relationships

Reports to: Vice President, Global Tax, Domestic Tax

Supervises: Staff team including Senior Manager, Manager, Sr Tax Analyst

Interfaces with: Senior Members of MVWC Finance and Accounting Department in U.S. and abroad, Third Party Service providers.



Expected Contributions

    • Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy.

    • Manages larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress and results. Typically influences work of cross-functional or extended teams.

    • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on business requests that have jurisdictional impact and/or moderate risk. Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the broader organization.

    • Works to enhance the Domestic tax group capabilities through effective staffing and development of others by:

      • anticipating staffing requirements by comparing business needs with strengths and weaknesses of existing staff.

      • coaching team to collaborate with others.

      • using appropriate MVWC interviewing tools to hire the best people available from inside or outside.

      • establishing goals and delegating tasks appropriately.

      • providing timely coaching and feedback

      • making and rewarding distinctions in performance.

      • engaging in progressive disciplinary processes, when appropriate.

    • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

      • acting in a consultative fashion to implement programs impacting the broader organization.

      • assisting in the development and communication of broader organizational goals.

      • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

      • developing and using systems to organize and keep track of information.

      • balancing the interests of own group with the interests of the department.

Specific Expected Contributions

    • Prepares management reports and participates in presenting results to senior management regarding tax related items.

    • Federal and state tax planning.

    • Identify tax issues and devise global tax strategies to minimize risk.

    • Manage the preparation of US tax compliance, forecasting, and reporting.

    • Manage income tax audits and inquires by governmental authorities.

    • Coordinate with outside service providers.




  • Manage and team of tax professionals to meet quarterly and annual tax compliance requirements.

  • Maintain strong relationships with F&A leaders including SEC Reporting, Financial Planning.

  • Manages the calendar for the U.S tax compliance team.

  • Attracts, retains, manages, develops and motivates tax team members by providing leadership, guidance, and counseling as appropriate.

    • Engage and manage third-party advisors as necessary,



Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally, a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations and associate management. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.



Specific Candidate Profile




    • Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or in a related discipline or equivalent work experience

    • CPA and Master of Taxation preferred.




  • Ten plus years of corporate tax experience with similar size organizations with a minimum of five years hands on experience with tax provision preparation.

  • Experience leading and managing large scale initiatives.

  • Three plus years in a supervisory role with demonstrated success leading and developing a functional team in a complex, service-intensive, and deadline-driven environment.

  • Proven history of consistently delivering results.

    • Timeshare, real estate development, or hospitality experience preferred.
