What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Evaluate tax consequences related to the company’s endeavors
  • Manage all aspects of the preparation of tax returns (Forms 1118, 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, 8975, 5713, Fincen)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations
  • Review complex tax returns prepared by team members for accuracy, completeness and timely filing
  • Perform technical reviews of quarterly GILTI/BEAT/FDII/SUBF/dividend and monitor tax attributes calculations supporting international provisions (E&P, PTI, FX, FTCs, etc.)
  • Review the provision calculation for local/non-U.S. tax
  • Work collaboratively with the Tax Director and Finance team throughout the year to ensure tax consequences of all transactions are well understood and tax reporting of these transactions are completed in an optimal manner
  • Oversee tax process optimization, including the development and implementation of procedural changes and/or enhancements of existing processes to improve the tax function
  • Manage specific process improvement initiatives, including the creation of tools and enablers, briefings and reference materials; coordinate the implementation of such projects
  • Train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development and work product; address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent related work experience
  • 5 years of experience in a publicly traded, corporate income tax department, or the tax department of a large public accounting firm
  • 3 years of experience managing a professional staff
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with international tax laws and compliance, U.S. corporate income tax law, GAAP and financial modeling

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Masters of Tax
  • CPA
  • 8 years of experience in a publicly traded, corporate income tax department, or the tax department of a large public accounting firm
  • 5 years of experience managing a professional staff
