Manager, International Tax Planning in US - Texas

The Manager, International Tax Planning is a key member of the Tax Planning team working under the direction of the Director, International Tax Planning, and in collaboration with other senior tax leaders in the Tax Department.  The primary responsibility of this position is managing international tax planning and research projects including:

 

  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Legal entity reorganization
  • International and domestic structuring
  • Contract manufacturing
  • Factoring programs
  • Intellectual property migrations
  • Formations and dissolution of entities including C Corps, LLCs, and partnerships
  • Repatriation issues
  • US tax implications of international and domestic transactions
  • Key Responsibilities

Project Planning – Implementation of tax planning ideas from start to finish including buy-ins from business units, corporate partners and outside accounting firms. Project plans should ensure:

  • Creation and execution of step plans
  • Recommendations for the best use of outside advisors
  • Completion of documentation and white papers
  • Communication and updates to key stakeholders

Research and Write-up Activity – Research, technical analysis and write-ups of tax implications related to various projects and transactions including recommendations and conclusions.  Recommendations & defensibility should include:

  • Effective tax rate impact
  • Present value of cash flow impact
  • Reserve ASC 740-10 and ASC450 impact to P&L
  • Facts, issues, conclusions and legal/accounting analysis

Required Experience & Education

  • Typically requires 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • BS degree required (preferably in business administration or accounting)
  • Law degree or graduate degree in tax-preferred

Critical Skills

  • A minimum of 5+ years corporate tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm, law firm and/or a Fortune 500 company
  • Ability to function in a decentralized reporting system environment with intense deadlines
  • Deep expertise in US taxation of global entities, especially related to tax planning, research, M&A, international tax and project management
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead change
  • Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong organization skills, including ability to work practically and effectively with multiple priorities
  • Desire and ability to work in a collegial, team-oriented environment
