Lead the federal and state income tax planning and compliance functions with a focus on identification and implementation of tax savings initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the identification, implementation, and reporting of federal and state tax planning initiatives including state credits and incentives
  • Conduct research and provide advice as requested from internal stakeholders
  • Assist with due diligence and integration related to acquisitions
  • Responsible for managing and developing competencies of income tax team
  • Review federal and state income and franchise tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions
  • Assist with review of inputs into the interim and year-end tax accounting process, including unrecognized tax position analysis
  • Manage federal and state income tax audits as they arise

     

    SUPERVISION

    Manager Income Tax Compliance and Income Tax Compliance Senior and Analysts

     

    RELATIONSHIPS

     

    Internal : Contoller’s Group, Treasury, M&A, FP&A, Division Finance

     

    External : Tax Authorities, External Auditors, Due Diligence Partners

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Education/Training :

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or similar major) is required. MST, MBA, CPA preferred.

     

    Related Experience/Requirements:

    Minimum seven years of progressive federal and state income tax planning and compliance experience. Big 4 or large corporate tax department experience preferred.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

  • Ability to utilize research tools to perform research and reinforce understanding of tax law and tax compliance
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting systems and processes
  • Excellent communication skills with a recognized ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
  • Effective people manager with ability to create a positive learning environment

 

Physical Requirements :

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
