Under moderate supervision, this intermediate level position focuses on applying/developing knowledge of tax and accounting principles for income taxes, preparing the federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, monthly tax provisions and associated supporting work papers for the separate affiliated groups and partnerships.
Participates as a member of the compliance team to prepare intermediate level federal and state income tax returns. (55%)
Helps to prepare intermediate level United States monthly tax provisions including the associated tax account roll forward schedules and performs other tax accounting procedures. (20%)
Assists in the preparation of intermediate level quarterly federal and state income tax estimated payments. (10%)
Researches fundamental tax questions as needed. (5%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (0-5%)
Assist the tax accountant or senior tax accountant as needed. (0-5%)
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business.
Advanced degree in one of these areas preferred.
Zero to two years of related work experience required for the Tax Analyst I level position
Two or more years of related work experience, with at least one year of relevant tax experience required for the Tax Analyst II position.
Working knowledge of tax law and procedures, tax research skills, familiarity with various tax returns and schedules. Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge.
Strong computer software skills.
Proven effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Extended work hours will be required, especially during the tax compliance filing process or other critical times.
